Sustainability Approach

Our Approach to Sustainability

Let's face it, we're all part of the problem. But at Blink Box, we're rolling up our sleeves to make as much of a positive impact as we can. Delivering your favourite toys, gifts and collectibles is what we do best, and now, we're doing it with an extra dash of love for our planet. Our journey towards sustainability is a never ending one, but we promise it will be packed with conscious decisions because every step towards a better future counts.

Our Sustainability Steps:

  1. Packaging with a Green Thumbprint

Our commitment to the planet is boxed up beautifully in our packaging choices. Our mailer boxes, sourced from Melbourne's B-Corp Heaps Good, aren't just any ordinary boxes. They're a testament to our dedication to using recycled materials, making each box a carrier of our promise to the earth. But we don't stop there. They also produce the parcel satchels we use which are compostable heroes! Ready to transform into nourishment for your garden. Just toss them in your compost bin and witness them contribute to the cycle of life. Got questions about this process? No worries, we've got all the answers you need right below.

  2. HEX Packaging: The Lighter Side of Shipping: We've gone HEX-travagant! Our recycled HEX packaging cuts down on weight and plastic use. It's our way of saying ‘less is more’ when it comes to environmental impact. Lighter packages, happier planet!

  3. Recycle, Reuse, Relove: Every bit of packaging that comes our way gets a second chance. So, don't be surprised if you spot some bubble wrap or other familiar materials in your package. We're all about recycling love and giving packaging a new lease on life.

  4. Compostable Labels & Thermal Printing: Compostable labels means you can toss your entire box or satchel – label included – into the compost bin. Thermal printing makes this process a breeze for us, and it’s a kind choice for the planet over traditional printing methods. Just a quick note: the Express Post tape isn’t compostable yet, so you’ll need to peel it off before composting. We’re on the hunt for a full solution to ensure every part of our packaging can join your compost pile!

  5. Carbon Neutral Delivery Like most, we're on board with Sendle and Australia Post in the delivery game. They're both carbon-neutral deliveries. But hey, we're not stopping there. Being carbon neutral is fab, but we know it takes more! We want to write a whole new green chapter in this space, because we're all about making a proper impact where it matters most for Ecommerce retailers like us.

How to compost your delivery satchel:

You can compost the eco-friendly mailers easily at home. Just follow the disposal guide, and scan the QR code on the mailers for additional instructions. Remember, local council rules for home composting can vary, so it's good to check their policies.

How Long do the Ecomailers take to decompose?

In a home compost setting, the Ecomailers will break down within 180 days, and in just 90 days in commercial compost facilities. They're faster to decompose than your average Hollywood sequel!

What are the Ecomailers used made of?

The compostable shipping mailers consist of cornstarch, PLA (a vegetable-based plastic), and PBAT (a composting co-polymer). While they might sound like baking ingredients, they're actually worm-friendly and environmentally safe.

Are they more durable than plastic?

Yep, the Ecomailers are as robust, waterproof, and flexible as traditional plastic mailers. They are designed to prevent breakage, protecting your precious cargo.
